Project #10 (2020)
COVID-19
When the pandemic began to affect the Windsor area, our group wanted to join the other community efforts within Windsor-Essex which were supporting the front line workers in any way they could. In March of 2020, our group changed our focus from creating blankets to creating items for those who had been working through the COVID 19 pandemic. We came up with the idea of using our handicrafting talents to make and donate scrub caps to help protect health care workers hair and mask extensions to help protect the ears of essential workers who need to wear masks for extended periods. Our volunteers, including some elementary and high school aged children, have also created a variety of hand-made greeting cards for residents residing in a few of our local long term care or retirement homes. We wanted to let those folks know that we are thinking of them. Please refer to our blog for more details! These efforts are on-going. |

Giving Back and Promoting Crafting with Yarn - Hetherington School Read-a-Thon

The students at Hetherington created the Christmas cards that were given along with a Warm Wishes blanket or shawl to long term care home residents. Our group put together three prize baskets which included a loom and some yarn. We wanted to give back to the kids and this was a great way to encourage kids to try creating with yarn! |
